Expertly Trained

Choosing to attend the Cleveland Institute of Music in viola performance, Natalie began her post-secondary education with world-renowned teacher, Jeffrey Irvine, and continued her studies with Kirsten Docter and Lynne Ramsey.

She then pursued further education at the University of Toronto where she studied with Teng Li, and graduated with a Master of Music.

Music is a beautiful way of expressing so much of what we feel, but it also gives us opportunities for creativity, discipline, enjoyment, refinement, and self-expression, all while pursuing musical excellence.

Lesson Pricing

Lessons are offered weekly online and/or in-person in the Thunder Bay, ON area.  Regular lessons run September through June, but can start at anytime during the year. Summer lessons are available by request.

About Natalie

Natalie began her musical training at the age of 6-years-old playing the violin and continued to expand her abilities throughout her primary school years. At the age of 14, Natalie was introduced to the viola by her teacher, Michael van der Sloot, and fell in love with the rich, deep sound of the instrument.

Natalie has had the privilege of attending many summer music programs including the National Arts Centre Young Artists Program, Morningside Music Bridge, Banff Masterclass Program, and the Tafelmusic Baroque Summer Institute. 

She has also played with the Cleveland Woman’s Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, CAMP-of-the-WOODS Orchestra, the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, and Ontario Philharmonic.

Natalie has held a private violin and viola studio since 2013, and recently completed training as a certified Suzuki Teacher. She has taught at the Cleveland School of the Arts, and was an adjunct instructor at Cuyahoga Community College. 

She currently lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  In addition to music, Natalie enjoys tea, reading, and walks.
